H.L. Jennings Bamboo Rods

Fittings and Fixtures

These rods use "Swiss" (see S. Maisey Rods Components) type 18% nickel silver ferrules and use the 1X shorter version. They look neater!

Hand grasps are turned from the best cork you can buy. Cigar shape is standard, 6" long. Rods under 7' get one less cork. Nickel silver checks are installed fore and aft.

Reel seat hardware is nickel silver. Your choice of up or down slide band and up or down screw lock. Reel seat spacers are made from figured hardwood. Your choice of Olive, Tiger Maple or Eucalyptus.

These rods are equipped with hardchrome snake and carbide stripper guides. Wraps are transparent Honey Lemon or light Olive at the signature and guides, and transparent medium brown at the ferrule stations. Several coats of tough polyurethane varnish is finally applied to provide a waterproof and very durable finish. The rods are protected with a sturdy poly-cotton sack and thick walled, brass capped, aluminum tube.

Rod Action

A well designed rod can produce a straight cast and a nice tight loop with ease and control. This should be accomplished whether fishing a short or long line. The rod should flex deeper into itself as the cast is extended, with action stopping at the butt swell, just short of the hand grasp.

2. Alternate tips each fishing day.

3. Do not jerk on snags

4. Apply a little hand soap to the male slide before joining sections, this will prevent ferrules sticking.

5. Do not store a wet rod! Hang it in a cool dry place out of the tube is best.
